Creature Comforts at Consultants’ Camp 2024

Details about meals, lodging, recreation, etc.

You’re probably wondering about the details of meals, rooms, hiking, weather, Internet access, mobile phone reception, and all the rest. Look no further. This page is where you’ll find details about life at Camp. If there’s something you need to know, and you can’t find it here.

Rooms

All guest rooms have private baths, air conditioning, electric heat, color TV, and Wi-Fi Internet access. Have a look.

Rooms with two queen beds are reserved on “our” hallway at the discount rate.

If you call by phone, just tell them you are with the Consultant’s Camp group.

In addition to the rooms on our hallway, we have reserved a 2 bedroom cabin for the lunch/pizza venue.  Other cabins are available as well.  Rates vary depending on whether you’re looking for a 2 or 4 bedroom cabin.  Call the Lodge for information at 800-282-7275.

Note that cabins are about 1/4 – 1/3 mile from the main lodge (where the meeting rooms and restaurant are), so be prepared to bicycle, drive, or walk a bit to move between the cabins and the main lodge.

How to make a room reservation

Maumee Bay is ready for you!

The reservation code to use when calling in your reservation is 10A1ZI.  The phone number to make the reservation is 800-282-7275

Do NOT make your reservations online, the “reservation counter” app won’t have our code and you won’t get our contracted prices.  Plus, if you cancel or change a reservation made through Reservation Counter, they charge a $15 fee for cancellation, which I’m sure you’d like to avoid!  One date to remember is that our room block will be released to others on July 24, 2024, so please get your reservations in by that time if at all possible.

Room prices for our group:

2 queens Lake View-$159/night except Friday, which is $186/night

Queen Rooms with Lake View | Maumee Bay Lodge & Conference Center

2 queens Pool View-$159/night except Friday, which is $186/night

Two-Bedroom Cabins | Maumee Bay Lodge & Conference Center

They also have suites and loft rooms in a different section of the hotel, which would be at their normal prices, and there is a 4 bedroom “reunion” cabin as well, again, at their normal prices.

NEEDED

Cancellations

Cancellations are subject to both the Camp cancellation policy and the Maumee Bay Lodge cancellation policy.

• If you cancel your Camp registration before August 10, 2024, $25 of the Camp registration fee per person is non-refundable. The remainder, if any, will be refunded to you.
• If you cancel your Camp registration on or after August 10, 2024, there is no refund of Camp registration fee.
• If you cancel your room reservation 10 days or more before your intended arrival at Maumee Bay Lodge, you will receive from them a refund of your room deposit.
• If you cancel your room reservation less than 10 days prior to your intended arrival date, your deposit is nonrefundable.

Venue policies

Because the Lodge is inside of an Ohio State Park, it is a “dry” site, meaning that publicly carrying and drinking alcohol in public spaces (other than the bar or restaurant) is prohibited.

Alcohol within individual guest rooms is fine

Pets: Maumee Bay Lodge does welcome pets in specific cabins only.

Contact Maumee Bay Lodge and Conference Center directly if you have any questions.

Meals

Breakfast is served in our meeting room. Your camp fee pays for the catered breakfast. There are three special dinners, described below, and which are hosted by Camp.

For lunch, we’re on our own, but there is an informal “lunch club” staffed by volunteer Campers who stock the kitchen in our cabin with cold lunch items and snacks. Participation is voluntary and costs $40 for the week.

Other meals are not included, but there is a full kitchen at our disposal for Campers to use at their leisure. And some of us will be exploring nearby restaurants. Here are some restaurants on a list from TripAdvisor for Oregon, Ohio, the town next to the lodge.

Special dinners

The three special dinners are the:

  1. Welcoming Dinner (Sunday),
  2. Community Dinner (Tuesday), and
  3. Celebration Dinner (Friday).

Welcoming Dinner is on the evening of the day we all arrive at Camp.

Community Dinner, is no ordinary dine-in affair.  It’s a festive hands on dining experience where Campers volunteer to produce a novel dining experience.

Celebration Dinner is usually a conventional barbecue, but special dietary requirements will be accommodated to the best of our ability.

Special dietary requirements

If you have any dietary restrictions, such as vegetarian, gluten-free, or low-acid, contact this year’s Social Director with details. The kitchen is not certified Kosher.

Recreation

The Lodge has an outdoor pool, outdoor jacuzzi, and indoor sauna and exercise room. An 18-hole golf course is available onsite. Bicycles are being made available to us free of charge for use during camp. The beach of Lake Erie is on premises. Daytime activities available nearby include hiking, golf, fishing, and horseback riding. The city of Toledo, 20 minutes away, has several attractions and historic sites. Cuyahoga Falls, an amusement park with historic wooden roller coasters, is an hour away, and Cleveland — close to both the NFL Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is about 2 hours away. Detroit, another vibrant midwest city, is an hour away.

The Convention and Visitors Bureaus for nearby cities have up to date event listings.
This page on the Lodge website has connections to recreation and events.

What to wear

Comfortable, casual clothes—jeans, shorts, T- shirts, and a sweatshirt or light jacket. There’s a swimming pool so bring swimwear. It is usually comfortably warm, or even hot, during the day and unlike California, often warm at night as well. Rain is likely, so a poncho or rain jacket is a good idea. Don’t forget sunscreen! !

Internet access

Free wireless Internet connections are available throughout the property. There is also a computer in the Business Center with Internet access.
